This time last year London was gearing up for Clashmouth, the first ever exclusively Drum & Bass record fair. 12 months on and now approaching its third event, what can the Drum & Bass vinyl loving connoisseur expect this year?
Let's start with the venue, this year it will all be taking place on Saturday 21st April at House of Vans London, one of the city's most exciting new event and performance spaces. Clashmouth will take over the venue across 2 rooms packing out the main space and room 2 hosting panels and workshops from established industry heads. The venue covers a whoppnig 30'000 square feet and will be completely taken over for the day by the Drum & Bass massive.
The obsessive types amongst you will already have noticed that the event coincides with Record Store Day, so the question on a lot of peoples lips is "what will be exclusive on the day?". What's nice this year is that there is a mix of confirmed releases on the day, but also some rumours being whispered about which we're simply going to have to wait and see on. Confirmed releases include the much anticipated return of Elementz Of Noize feartured on a 12" from Exkursions, an mSdoS & Greekboy 3 track EP on Skeleton, Repetoire offering 3 new 12"s from Blu Mar Ten, Law & Wheeler and Eusebeia, a series of one off uniquely finished coies of 'The Mystic Tune' from Horrific Recordings, Pickman's 'Electric Dreams' on Detrimental Audio, Justice's 'Index EP' cassette on Metro's Ortem imprint, and a rumoured min LP from Manix on Reinforced! For any self respecting vinylist it makes for heady stuff. Also there on the day will be over 30 labels stacked with new and back catalogue releases.
"There's a huge variety of labels involved, some have pushed their manufactures to get stock in early ahead of general release, others digging through their 'warehouses' to find some rare whites, it's gonna be a vibe. Not only records on sale this time, we're expanding into a bit of a Q and A type thing, with room 2 holding panel discussions, production masterclasses and speeches from some of the people behind the scenes." - Dexta & Chris Inperspective (Organisers)
