With some huge DJ support from Machinedrum, Om Unit and Rockwell, we take some time to check out the latest genre bending release from Sinistarr & Silent Dust.
Back for 2014 none60 deliver their first record of the year, combining label stays Silent Dust and Sinistarr who is quickly becoming a regular within the camp.
Sinistarr re-imagines Silent Dust’s classic “Love Sundered” drawing on his Detroit roots, wrapping the original in a firing footwork shell. Larger than life analogue bass tones and speeding hi hats set the agenda, allowing Sinistarr to twist this one completely out of recognition. The original "Love Sundered" is a strictly reflective piece whereas Sinistarr's remix adds plenty of weighty bottom end amping this into a real floor smasher.
Sinistarr and Silent Dust come together for “The Chant” taking things right back to the beginning with classic jungle breaks and some murderous ragga vocal stabs for good measure. If you are enjoy the current mix of footwork and jungle from people like Rashad, More Sounds, Fracture, Om Unit etc then you will love this. It manages to capture this whole sound really neatly.
“I love the fact that the deeper, experimental side of our music is coming back into fruition. I feel that there's a level of sophistication that has been reached to the point where the music can safely cross genres and be appreciated by other audiences.” - Sinistarr
Sinistarr & Silent Dust - "Love Sundered Remix" / "The Chant" is out on 24/02/14 on none60.
