This years Record Store Day is happening on 22nd April with a bit of a difference. The introduction of the first ever Drum & Bass Label Market.
Each year Record Store Day uncovers a treasure trove of on-the-day exclusives and rarities on vinyl, from a never heard Donny Hathaway studio recording, to an 808 State special edition repress, to a David Bowie picture. This year however marks the beginning of something altogether new: The Drum & Bass Label Market, taking place at Cafe 1001 London, is bringing together more than 20 Drum & Bass labels that stand firm with the trusty vinyl format.
Record Store Day started in 2007 as a celebration of independent record shops and has since extended to a positive affirmation of the wider record buying and selling community. The event is an important date in the industries calendar, described by Universal Music's Marc Fayd’Herbe as "the single best thing that has ever happened" for independent record shops. Outside of major label interest, the day is also key for niche labels who have always supported the format and see it as an integral component of the culture.
Confirmed record labels on the day: Addictive Behaviour, AKO Beatz, Asbo Records, Diffrent Music, Dispatch Recordings, Distant Planet, Detuned Transmissions, Function, Goldman Records, Groundwork Recordings, Horrific Recordings, Inception:Λudio, Inperspective Records, Metalheadz, Offshore Recordings, Reinforced Records, Re:st, Shogun Audio, Sinuous Records.
