Ghost Warrior - Outland EP

Article
Alexander

Ghost Warrior makes his much-anticipated debut on the prominent Swiss imprint re:st with a generous 6 tracks of solid drone and bass.

Working out of Hungary, Ghost Warrior crept into sight in 2014 with his ‘Altered States EP’ on Loxy’s CX Digital imprint, and again in 2015 with the ‘Fracture EP’ on Doc Scott’s 31 Records. This impressive pedigree is reinforced on his latest outing for re:st.

re:st has cemented itself as a key tastemaker in the field of ambient electronics at 170 beats per minute, the ‘Outland EP’ further solidifies that position. From the cybernetic suspense of ‘Hollow’ through to reassuring pads of ‘Into the Void’, the Outland EP is substantial in both quality and quantity. Across the EP the use of space and restraint is clear, the absolutely-essential succeeds any need to fill the compositions with any audio fluff. A true exercise in rhythmic minimalism.

At 6 tracks deep, the EP is almost a mini LP. Individually engaging while collectively cohesive, the EP maps out a comprehensive musical terrain and territory. A mix of clap and click percussion, swooning drones and firm bass tones.
